Ibanez V300 – Nashville Conversion

I first heard a Nashville-tuned guitar a very long time ago, although I didn’t know it at the time. It’s of course the chorus of Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd, written by David Gilmour on his own version of the high-strung guitar. You can hear it especially well in his demo here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ajaS3ROQ634.

Recently, I had the urge to modify a cheap acoustic guitar to recreate a similar sound. Since most of the strings do not have the same diameter as normal strings, the setup of the guitar can be wildly different.

I found this Ibanez V300 on Marketplace and thought it would be the perfect platform for this mod. I carved a new nut and bridge saddle, both made of bone, to adapt to the new string gauges, and instantly fell in love with it! You’ll hear it on some of my next songs with Endful Horizon.
