Hand plane restoration – Stanley Bailey N#4

The hand plane is certainly one of the most pleasing tools to use in a woodworking shop. Unfortunately, the one I bought second hand was in a rough state.

The main handle was split, and had been repaired at least one time: the long screw holding it to the cast iron base was bent and epoxied to the handle. Over time, the epoxy loosened too and it was not very usable anymore.

The new handle was made with an offcut from the Jazzmaster project (ash wood), and I was thankfully able to find a replacement screw online to reassemble it.
