Drums restoration – Pearl Export

As a child, my dream was playing drums. My parents redirected me towards the more traditional marching snare, but I didn’t fall in love with it and never went farther than a plastic training pad.

Plus tard, j’ai pu suivre des cours de guitare électrique, après avoir (légèrement) insisté envers mes parents, mais le rêve d’être batteur n’est pas disparu pour autant!

As soon as I had access to a playing space of my own, I jumped on the occasion and bought a full kit on a classified ads website: a Pearl Export aged a good 20 years, in working state but needing a good cleanup.

I couldn’t resist the urge to fully restore it, however. During the hardware restoration phase, my instinct got the better of me and I removed the black plastic wrap to discover the beautiful plywood shells beneath. Being of an excellent quality and very nice appearance, I decided to stain and varnish it instead of reinstalling a wrap.
